Super Duper Tutor
Learning is a journey: from facts we gain knowledge, which leads to understanding, and eventually, wisdom
More About Me
I was brought up in a family of creative people who loved to learn and explore. Born in Cape Town, I love the outdoors, the seaside, colour, texture and food. I finished primary school in England and then went to Simon Langton Grammar School for Girls in Canterbury, Kent. I attended Brighton University studying Interior Architecture, and then moved on to study International Event Management. After working in this industry for a while, my desire to learn brought me back into education, this time teaching it. Alongside working in a handful of outstanding Prep schools in Notting Hill, London, Canterbury, Kent and Kew, London, I ran my own private tutoring business. Although I love the school environment for many reasons, I have found my 1-2-1 and small group tutoring the most rewarding, for both myself and the student.
What I Provide & What I Believe In
I have three great 'loves' in my role as an educator: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together.
I believe the art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery. Come and join me for your own, tailored journey.

11+ and Common Entrance Maths Tutoring
When it comes to 11+ and Common Entrance exams, an initial challenge for many children I work with is the initial fear of exams and tackling questions under timed and unfamiliar conditions. It is important to work on your child’s mental arithmetic, problem solving skills, subject knowledge and application of it, and exam technique including speed, accuracy and adaptability. I will work with your child to ensure they go into their exam feeling confident and understanding what to expect.
Additionally, I believe it is fundamentally important that your child nurtures their passion and desire to learn during this process, and at the same time having fun! Learning is meant to be fun, and I feel that many schools and institutes often lack this. In every little thing I do in my profession, I always share my love and passion for learning.
I develop tailored, strategic lessons to revise key topics and concepts as well as focus on Secondary Maths content (optional) and skills to help with a smooth and confident transition into Secondary/Senior school.
Using a variety of 11+ resources and tests, both collected over the years and a number of which I created for specific needs in my lessons, I will help them grow in confidence with different types of maths questions and topics that they may come across in the exams, and in their new secondary schools.
The 11+ Maths and Common Entrance exam will aim to test your child’s speed, accuracy, problem solving and mental arithmetic. It will cover these topics:
Number and place value
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Fractions, percentages, decimals
Ratio and proportion
Geometry (properties and position of shapes, co-ordinates)
“Every secret of a writer’s soul, every experience of his life, every quality of his mind, is written large in his works.”
— Virginia Woolf
Virginia Woolf (born London, 1882) is best known for her novels, especially Mrs. Dalloway (1925) and To the Lighthouse (1927), Woolf also wrote pioneering essays on artistic theory, literary history, women’s writing, and the politics of power. A fine stylist, she experimented with several forms of biographical writing, composed painterly short fictions, and sent to her friends and family a lifetime of brilliant letters.
